Today I’m sharing a list of gift ideas for kids. I’m dividing this list up into three categories: babies/toddlers, kids, and then preteens/teens.
I did my best to group everything by age ranges, but please know the categories are by no means definitive!
We are going to do Disneyland tickets for the girls for their “big” present this year again–we did this last year and it was an enormous success. Outside of that, we will probably just stick to books, stocking stuffers, and maybe a Lego set. We are super into Legos right now.
I love these blankets from Saranoni. They have a few different sizes and are all so soft.
Magnatiles are great for any age. We got our first set for Char when she was 18 months old, and the girls still use them to this day! Quiet books are wonderful for church, restaurants, and travel.
If you have a play room or extra space in your house, this block set from Gathre and balance beam set would both be amazing. I’m drooling over this heirloom looking table set from Etsy, but a more practical version, of course, would be this sensory table from Ikea.
We got Char a cheap Amazon version of this Pottery Barn sherpa chair for her first birthday, and she surprisingly used it every day for years. I actually wish we had gotten the nicer version because the Amazon version didn’t hold up very well.
I have to highlight the Woom bike here because we are obsessed. We got one for Char when she turned five and one for Emmie when she turned four. In both instances, they were able to ride all on their own by the end of the day. The Woom bike was specifically designed to be easier for kids to ride on, and we have had such good experiences with ours. They are definitely an investment, but they do tend to hold their resale value. In fact, we got Emmie’s on FB marketplace, so keep an eye out there too! Emmie (4 yrs. old) has the size 2, and Char (6 yrs old) has the size 3 (they are both of average height!).
I think this is finally the year where we invest in the Yoto Mini Player for the girls!! This is a travel-friendly audio player that is compatible with a library of story cards, ranging from Disney stories to classic chapter books. I have always wanted these for the girls for long drives and flights, and I think they would be wonderful for quiet time at home too. As far as I understand, you can also use these with bluetooth headphones. I need to order this ASAP–I always drag my feet, and then it sells out. I’m going to get a few card packs to start–maybe the classic starter pack, the adventure pack. SALE ALERT: The Yoto Mini is currently on sale for 20% off this week!
If you have any travel on your winter calendar, these busy kits from Etsy are great. And you can filter by age!
The girls are super into bracelet making this year, and I am sooo tempted to get them this gorgeous personalized kit from Bauble Bar.
We all loved the Mercy Watson series from Kate DiCamillo this year, and this boxed set would make a great gift for an early reader. We also loved The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.
I will probably get them each one of these play doh kit jars for their stockings. Also very intrigued by this Frozen kit. SO cute.
Why do I love this wooden toy car rack so much??
Both my mom and my mother-in-law got Char little beginner sewing kits for her birthday. She loves them so much. Such a great skill to learn and good for her motor skills too!
Kiwi Co. has the best craft and activity kits.
My friend Bianca turned me into Sarah’s Silks, and the girls love all of their dress up stuff. The butterfly wings, cape, and streamers are all so sweet.
An art easel would be an exceedingly useful gift for a younger kiddo.
We have this dollhouse from Target. It’s very sweet and does the job. Of course, I can’t help but drool over this one from Pottery Barn. Swoon.
I’ll end this group with Legos. We are in a major Lego phase over here. We got Char this adorable bed and breakfast set for her birthday. SO CUTE. And Tyler’s brother got her the camping set which is also so adorable. Amazon has a really handy Lego gift finder tool which I thought was very handy, although I do think the age ranges on Legos are really just loose suggestions.
I love the idea of a Polaroid camera and scrapbooking set for a tween/teen. I loved that stuff when I was younger (still do, lol).
The Pottery Barn Teen gift shop is a great place to start. A boyfriend pillow and lap desk would be a great combo–remember how fun it is to just brood in bed with your books and music and such as a teen?? I’m also eyeing this wall photo holder.
Love these pajama pants from Aerie (and the matching cami is so cute!). Pair with this fuzzy platform Ugg dupes.
This book stamp would make a beautiful gift for a reader. Can’t go wrong with a Stanley (as long as it’s the flip top straw version!). And this passport holder and luggage tag set is so sweet.
Thanks for checking out my list of gift ideas for kids!
On that note…
It’s a pre-weekend pick me up: just a little note with links to the latest blog posts, what I’m reading lately, and products I’m obsessed with. Think of it as a friend dropping off a surprise latte in the morning--you know?
