Thank you so much for this post! Funny enough, I did not search for this post but stumbled across it doing research for a new role I’ve recently taken on. I work for a large cloud company and just started doing BD for IoT in Agtech. I came across the modern acre and saw that your husband also had a travel blog. My husband and I both like to travel so naturally I checked it out and found this article. It is perfect because we are planning a trip to Greece in June with our 5 month old son, who will be one when we go. I keep telling people it’s either the bravest thing we’ve ever done or the dumbest but we just didn’t want to give up traveling even though we had a baby. We’re giving it a shot and I will definitely keep your tips in mind!

Thanks for your story!! What about a car seat?? We are going to Europe with our just one year old and what do you do if you need a taxi? Did you rent a car with a car seat?
    Thanks!

Hi Marnie! I should have included this–we did bring her carseat with us! We could have just requested one with the rental car but we packed lightly and it was easy enough to check it so we did. We knew we’d be in areas that we would either be driving or on a ferry, so we knew we wouldn’t need to worry about getting a taxi with her with us. I think each country varies on requirements for carseats but I do think if you book in advance you can request a car with a carseat if need be! Otherwise you’d have to rely on public transportation if you’re in a big city and have to get around without your own car. Hopefully that helps!! LMK if you have any more questions. I hope you guys have the BEST time on your trip! xx Ruth

Thank you so much for all of this!! My husband and I just had our first baby (okay she’s now 8 months but it still feels like just). Traveling was and is a huge part of our relationship and we too want to expose her to what we love. We’ve had the discussions of “how old do they need to be to remember it” but have decided it’s worth it to show them as early as you can and we know it’ll stick with her developmentally. Anyways, your blog put my mind at ease, helped me prepare, and calmed my nerves every time I re-read it. We leave this week for Europe! Hope y’all have another trip soon with sweet Charlotte! Thanks again!

“Hi, those tips are awesome and really helpful! By the way, considering transportation laws, lugging car seats can be a nightmare! Did you know that Kidmoto can solve that problem for you? Ditch the car seats when flying with a baby! A life-saver, I promise! 🙂
