Today I am sharing my Sézane Léontine Jumper Review.
I first fell in love with this jumper after trying it on in the Sézane store in Paris last May. I initially passed on the purchase because my suitcase couldn’t absorb the extra weight and I didn’t really need a sweater in the 80 degree heat. So, I spent the rest of the summer thinking about it, though, and went ahead and ordered it the very second the temperature dropped below 75 here in San Diego.
After wearing it at least once–if not twice–weekly the past 12 months, I thought it was time to share my thoughts on this piece and if I think it is worth the $125 price tag.
In this post, I’ll share my overall review of Sézane’s Léontine Jumper as well as details on the material, sizing, and fit. At the end of the post, I’ll share a few styling ideas.
**Sézane just launched their fall 2024 line, and I’m in love! I ordered the Betty Cardigan in Leopard, can’t stop thinking about the Pierre. The Stacy Jumper is so elegant and would be perfect for the holidays. All so dreamy! Love the bag lineup too.
Sézane is famous for their chic updates on classic styles, and it’s not surprising to me that the Léontine jumper is one of the sustainable Parisian brand’s all-time bestsellers.
The henley-style sweater has a slightly boxy silhouette and features classic French marinière stripes that begin just below the shoulders and stop at the hems. My personal favorite detail? The balloon sleeves that taper in at the bottom. Swoon.
The Léontine sweater drapes effortlessly and looks chic with jeans and trousers alike.
The Léontine jumper is extremely well made. Although the material is thick, it doesn’t look frumpy (or lumpy). It hangs perfectly, and I find myself reaching for it time and time again. It’s neutral (but not boring) and goes with everything.
Another thing I really appreciate about this sweater is that you can wear it tucked, untucked, tucked into your bra, buttoned halfway up, buttoned all the way up, or layered over a white tee. The options are endless which, to me, is always the sign of a good purchase. I have been SO happy with this sweater.
This sweater is a little boxy and slightly cropped. When untucked, the hem hits the middle of my hips, and if I raise my hands, you can see my stomach (but keep in mind I am 5’9”). The sweater is fitted through the shoulders and chest and then hangs loosely through the waist.
In general, I find Sézane’s knitwear to run a bit smaller than U.S. brands, so if you’re in between sizes, I’d go up. I wear a medium in this, and I wouldn’t want it any smaller.
One more thing to note about the fit: the sleeves are on the shorter side and don’t quite reach to the end of my wrists, but I actually love how this looks with the balloon detail.
The Léontine jumper is made with 100% organic cotton and crafted in Italy. The cotton material makes this sweater extremely versatile and more durable than the wool or cashmere sweaters I own.
Sézane is known for their knits, but they only carry a handful of 100% cotton sweaters. Most of their sweaters are made with wool or a wool blend, and as someone who both lives in Southern California and runs generally hot, I wouldn’t get as much use out of a wool-based sweater.
I love that the Léontine jumper is made of cotton and is something I can reach for in any type of weather. It’s sturdy but relatively lightweight, easy to layer under coats and jackets. It’s not very warm, but it IS the perfect weight to throw over my shoulders on a confusing weather day.
The material is soft but not overly soft. I saw one reviewer describe it almost as feeling like a linen-cotton blend, and I think that was spot on. I am quite sensitive to fabrics, and I feel totally comfortable in this all day long.
It’s worth noting that I haven’t noticed any pilling and shedding despite several washes.
The instructions recommend hand washing in cold water, but I am not running a homestead over here. I wash mine on a cold, delicate cycle and lay it flat on a towel to dry. So far, that has worked totally fine.
The Sézane Léontine Jumper costs $125 USD.
Sézane offers free shipping to the U.S. on orders above $200, and they also do free (and easy) returns. One way to look at it is that the shipping minimum gives you an excuse to order two sizes and return one for free?
I feel obligated to mention this in case anyone is planning a trip to Europe: the prices at the store in Paris were WAY cheaper than online or in the stores in the US. I grabbed a couple of things while I was there, but after the trip I was kicking myself for not stocking up even more.
I have this in the Ecru/Navy style, but it also comes in an Ecru/Camel, Ecru/Coral, and a Navy/Ecru (the reverse of what I have). All four styles are gorgeous.
Here are a few outfit ideas for the Léontine sweater. I tried to include various season options too. In my opinion, this jumper looks great with jeans, trousers, shorts, and even over a dress.
I have worn the open knit Capucine cardigan constantly this spring and summer. It looks beautiful as a standalone top buttoned up or halfway up. I also use it for travel as a second layer that goes with my whole wardrobe–see how I styled it in Spain and Portugal here. The Andie is another beautiful neutral cotton cardigan that would be a bit warmer than the Capucine.
The Bree Jumper is similar to the Léontine but has a beautiful knotted texture and henley detail. The Daisy jumper is also so dreamy. I also love Titouan cardigan in chocolate.
I love the dramatic thick stripes and gold buttons of the Gary jumper, also made with organic cotton.
I hope this review was helpful! Please let me know if you end up purchasing the Sézane Léontine Jumper and what you think of it.
