Today I’m sharing my OSEA Ocean Wave Cleanser review.
I am a huge fan of OSEA’s naturally-derived line of skin and body care products. I love that each of their products provide an experience. From the calming lavender scented Dream Night Cream to the mood-boosting body wash to the invigorating salt scrub, OSEA’s line has become a huge part of my nightly unwind. My evening shower and skincare session helps me relax and reset, physically and mentally, at the end of a long day.
The Ocean Wave Cleanser just leveled up my routine in a big way. This cleanser doubles as a makeup remover and uses a bi-phase formula to leave my skin refreshed, clean, and nourished (I’ll also add: not dried out at all). I have been using it as the first step of my double cleanse each evening (will share more on that below).
In this OSEA Ocean Wave Cleanser review, I’m going to share an overview of the bi-phase formula and ingredient lineup, my thoughts on the product after using it for two weeks, and all of the details on my nightly double cleansing skincare routine.

ToggleOSEA’s Ocean Wave Cleanser was formulated to effectively remove makeup and cleanse skin of impurities and excess sebum without disrupting the skin’s natural barrier. It’s a makeup remover and cleanser all in one. We love a multitasker around here.
The bi-phase formula is really unique and unlike anything I’ve used before. The “oil phase” of the bottle is designed to pull anything oil-based from the skin such as makeup and excess sebum while the “water phase” removes any residue or leftover buildup. The two formulas are designed to work together to leave skin clean but not stripped.
The Ocean Wave Cleanser boasts a lineup of nourishing key ingredients:
One of OSEA’s most used, super star ingredients, Undaria Seaweed is rich in amino acids, antioxidants, and nutrients to help mineralize the skin. Camelina Oil is rich in Omega 3 to moisturize and condition skin. Bisabolol is known for its soothing properties.
WATER / AQUA / EAU, ISOPROPYL PALMITATE, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE,HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (Sunflower) SEED OIL, OLEIC/LINOLEIC/LINOLENIC, POLYGLYCERIDES, CAMELINA SATIVA SEED OIL, BISABOLOL, UNDARIA PINNATIFIDA EXTRACT, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS (Orange) PEEL OIL, CITRUS AURANTIUM BERGAMIA (Bergamot) FRUIT OIL, CITRUS AURANTIFOLIA (Lime) OIL, MAGNESIUM ASPARTATE, ZINC GLUCONATE, JUNIPERUS COMMUNIS FRUIT OIL, CUPRESSUS SEMPERVIRENS LEAF/NUT/STEM OIL, JASMINUM OFFICINALE (Jasmine) OIL, COPPER GLUCONATE, BETA VULGARIS (Beet) ROOT EXTRACT, LIMONENE, DECYL GLUCOSIDE, PHENETHYL ALCOHOL, HYDROXYACETOPHENONE
The consistency is really thin. At the risk of sounding overly obvious, it feels like a very watery oil. The thin consistency makes this product very easy to massage in and rinse off.
The cleanser comes in OSEA’s signature glass bottle with a capped orifice with a reducer to slow the product coming out. I will note that since the product is so thin, it tends to be a little messy coming out of the top and can sometimes splashes a bit depending on how you hold it.
A bottle of OSEA’s Ocean Wave Cleanser costs $38 for a 4 oz bottle.
It took me a couple of tries to get the hang of this cleanser and maximize the results, but it’s now an integral step of my nighttime routine.
First, I shake the bottle to mix up the oil and water-based parts. Then I pour a few drops into my dry hands. I do a quarter-sized amount and then mix it up in my palms. I gently massage the product all over my face, neck, and chest. Then, I’ll rinse it off–usually in shower which is where I’ll do the second part of my double cleanse.
The cleanser does work on eye makeup, but if I have a lot of makeup on that day, I’ll go back in with a cotton round to finish removing the rest. I’ll saturate the cotton round with the cleanser and gently wipe it over my eyes, taking care to keep my eyes all the way closed as I go.
After I rinse it off, I follow up the cleanse with my favorite-ever face wash: OSEA’s Ocean Cleanser.
This sounds weird, but I always think of cleaning my face the same way I’d clean a floor. I wouldn’t just go straight to mopping, would I? I’d sweep all of the dust and debris up first and then go in with the mop to give it a nice deep clean.
The same is true of double cleansing. Between our SPF, makeup, and all of the pollution and impurities our faces are exposed to during the day, a one step scrub isn’t going to cut it. Using an oil-based cleanser to pull the physical grime and makeup from your face clears the way for a face wash to really do its thing and cleanse down to the pores.
The bi-phase formula of OSEA’s Ocean Wave Cleanser provides that perfect “first sweep” and sets the stage for a deep clean with your face wash.
I really love this cleanser. It’s the perfect first step in my nighttime unwind and actually removes my makeup.
The formula is lightweight and leaves my skin unbelievably soft. It feels like a luxury face treatment. It doesn’t sting my eyes, and it doesn’t feel overly greasy like a lot of the top cleansing balms on the market.
