Today I’m sharing a few gift ideas for the MALES in our lives. I posted a question box on IG the other day asking for gift guide requests, and the overwhelming majority responses were along the lines of “dads, husbands who buy themselves everything, FIL.”
I’ll share more gift ideas in the coming weeks (I like the idea of doing a new theme each week?), but for today I thought I’d focus on our most challenging recipients and share some gift ideas for men.
Why are men so hard to shop for? I haven’t cracked the code yet, but here’s a list of ideas that will hopefully be helpful!?
These are the best training shoes. They are a little more supportive than the original Metcons which I like a lot. Tyler doesn’t buy new workout shoes until his current ones are falling apart at the seams, and I suspect he’s not the only dude like this.
The most comfortable shoe on the planet? For the guy who “wants to get into running more.”
This jacket is SO cute. Sporty but not, like, an old basketball warmup jacket.
Tyler loves these sweats. They are lightweight and soft and don’t look totally sloppy when he wears them to the airport, lol.
If you’re reading this, your husband/dad probably needs new slippers.
These are a great hack for men who hate dress pants or dressing up in general. They are the only dress pant Tyler owns at this point.
Is there anything cuter than a man in a quarter zip? I’ll wait.
I love this duffel bag–a welcome upgrade to a decade-old gym bag that your man insists on carrying for every weekend getaway.
Another awesome duffel option.
My brother-in-law had this out the last time we were at his house, and I’m very tempted to get one for Tyler this year. I love the portability of it–you can take it camping, to the beach, or just use it for a little bonfire in the backyard.
If you’re going to splurge for a Yeti cooler, make sure to grab the “Roadie” style because it’s tall enough to fit a wine bottle.
This thing is AWESOME. We keep this in our truck and use it to rinse everyone off after a day at the beach. It’s perfect for camping too–dishes, handwashing, etc.
I love this tray for guys like Tyler who have never once known where their Airpods are.
Tyler reheats his coffee at least 5 times a morning, so I should probably get him this to keep on his desk in the garage.
This is a great, everyday t-shirt–nothing fancy but well priced. I love the curved-hem detail.
The perfect stocking stuffer for a golf-obsessed man.
I recently realized that Tyler’s toiletry bag is totally disgusting, lol, so I might have to grab this for him too.
You guys know my thoughts on the IG-famous 50 oz Stanley straw cup (it sucks), but this one is amazing. It doesn’t spill, and the handle is awesome. I got one for Tyler for Father’s Day last year and he actually uses it everyday which I’ve been pleasantly surprised by.
This is the EXACT type of thing Tyler would never buy for himself, but the second we have people over, he’ll turn the kitchen inside out in a fury, asking me where all our beer glasses are. I love these from Crate and Barrel because they are cheap and also make a wonderful iced coffee glass. I also love this style.
Same as above–we barely use whiskey glasses, but when we do, it seems like we need at least six. Oh, and don’t forget these handy cube trays.
This is so cute–I love the brown color.
Hillbilly Elegy, Never Split the Difference, Empire of Pain, The Bomber Mafia, Beartown, and Stillness is the Key.
I had a few people mention this about their husbands or dads, so I’ve been trying to think of some “outside the box” ideas for this type of person. Some things I came up with:
There will only be just a few games left after Christmas, and I’d only recommend buying tickets if the team they love is in the running for the playoffs–otherwise it would be a little depressing. But if their team is good this year, there’s no better way to spend New Year’s.
This is a safe bet if they love basketball because it’s early in the season and Christmastime games are always very festive. You can make a whole little date night out of it!
This is for the burly, garage-gym types. Even if this person seems like the guy who buys himself whatever he wants, I promise you there is a dumbbell or weighted vest or something that he’s been eyeing at Rogue for a while now.
If your dad is the type of guy who makes his way to Yosemite or Yellowstone at least once a year, come hell or high water, (hi, Dennis), this might be a nice nod to your favorite dude’s nature obsession. It’s practical and nonfussy and something he’d probably have to buy himself anyway?
It’s a pre-weekend pick me up: just a little note with links to the latest blog posts, what I’m reading lately, and products I’m obsessed with. Think of it as a friend dropping off a surprise latte in the morning--you know?
