I have to say that I’m excited for the cooler temps. I’m sure in a few months I’ll be itching for summer again (I’m a basic SoCal girl at heart), but I am kind of tired wearing barely any clothes every day lol. It’s going to be nice to bundle up.
And while “fall in San Diego” is a much tamer version of “fall anywhere else,”, there is something very festive about sweater weather, am I right?
Today’s post is kind of fun. Everything I’m sharing is either at or below the $50 mark–who doesn’t love a bargain!?
A few weeks ago, I tried on this corduroy button-up at Madewell. It was absolutely beautiful, but I just couldn’t justify the price. So I whipped out my phone (still in the dressing room, mind you) to search for something comparable on Amazon. I ordered the highly-reviewed Amazon version right away, and I really love it. I ended up going with the “light grey” color which is really more of a muted blue/green, but it comes in so many cute colors. I’ve worn this open over a crop tank (you know the one), but I’ll also wear it buttoned up and half-tucked with jeans and booties. It’s not as thick as the Madewell version, but it’s very soft and comfortable. I think it’s the perfect weight for a San Diego fall–or to wear layered with a turtleneck or under a wool coat somewhere colder!?
My best friend from college, whose style is impeccable in every way, alerted me to these Gucci mule dupes a few months ago. I had been waiting until it was a little closer to fall to grab them, and since they arrived last week I’ve hardly removed them from my feet. These are chic and effortless, and in my opinion, completely embody my Coastal Grandmother fashion goals but in a cooler temp moment. These are SO cute with jeans and a sweater and are surprisingly comfortable for being a $30 shoe from Amazon.
And you guys aren’t going to believe this, but I just have to share. I went to this cutie Tubby Todd event last week, and I wore these mules with cutoff shorts and a linen button down. I OVERHEARD two girls talking about my outfit, specifically mentioning my mules. But I pretended not to hear them since they weren’t talking directly to me and I didn’t want to seem like I was eavesdropping (anyone else suffer from social anxiety? ha), but inside I was beaming. So if that’s not a compelling enough reason to grab these, IDK what is.
Did someone say Coastal Grandmother? I hate for this whole post to turn into a dupe list, but oh well, here we go, hustlers. I spotted this $20 cardi at H&M a few weeks ago and knew I had to have it right away. This button-up sweater is a GREAT dupe for that one bougie Jenni Kayne cashmere cardigan that IG will not let me forget about. I love that I can wear this open with a tee or dress OR buttoned up as a standalone top with jeans and my fake Gucci mules. I got this in the green/beige color, my older sister got it in tan, and my little sister got it in light blue, beige, AND black LOL. It’s a good one, trust me. They just restocked every color this week, so make sure to grab this ASAP.
I am so thrilled about this $40 lacey layering top from Free People. I plan to wear this over a bodysuit, but I’ve also seen girls style it under a dress which, to me, is just Next Level Cool. The colors are all stunning, and I think I need them all. So cute for a date night or NYE, right?
This quarter zip sweater from Amazon is still sitting right at the top of my “want list,” a note that I keep in my phone of everything I, well, want to buy. I’m going to grab this at some point this fall–I’ve been looking for some longer pieces to wear with leggings since I’m a mom and leggings are what we wear. I live for a quarter-zip and really love the ribbed detail.
My friend showed up looking SO CUTE to our girls night last week in these adorable booties from Nordstrom Rack, so of course I immediately hounded her for the link. I’ve been wanting some tan booties like this but always hesitate to spend a lot of money on the “trendier” styles, so I was very excited about this price point ($54, so technically a few bucks over the today’s theme, but I think it was a worthy exception).
I’m rounding things out here with one last item from my want list: this kind-of-shiny, kind-of-sexy $24 button-up top from Amazon. I could see myself wearing this over the holidays with some high waisted jeans (and possibly the DV booties!?). I think I’m going to get this in the “coffee brown,” as I am having a deeply spiritual moment with that color this year.
It’s a pre-weekend pick me up: just a little note with links to the latest blog posts, what I’m reading lately, and products I’m obsessed with. Think of it as a friend dropping off a surprise latte in the morning--you know?
