I shared my travel makeup routine on Instagram Stories a few weeks ago and received a few questions, so I decided to just put it in a blog post.
Since becoming a mom, I’ve had to forcibly abbreviate my “getting ready” routine.
I used to take a leisurely hour to get ready in the morning before work and while we were traveling.
What can I say? I like to sip my coffee while methodically moving through the steps of my morning routine. It’s my favorite way to start the day.
And as you know, we take TONS of pictures when we travel. I gotta look fresh, alright?
For me, skincare is the most important. I don’t like to skimp out on any of those steps in the morning or at night.
So, I need to pair down my makeup regimen.
Most days when I’m at home with Charlotte, I don’t wear any at all. But on days when I’m going to see people or feel like a functioning member of society, I do the following.
This takes me around 5 minutes (after skincare).
I’m very proud of myself for perfecting this because we are going to Europe next month, and I could already imagine how annoyed Tyler would be with me for taking an hour to get ready when we have Charlotte with us. YOU’RE WELCOME, TY.
Also: I’m not a beauty expert or beauty blogger. Just a girl who likes a strategic enhancement before facing this big cold world. This look is natural and glowy and is just what works for me, ok?

ToggleI use Glossier’s Skin Tint after my moisturizer and SPF. The coverage is dewy and smooth. I love it because you just use your fingers to apply it and it just melts into my skin.
It’s kind of like the “Paris” filter on Instagram stories. Natural but just want you need, right?
(I do want to emphasize how light the coverage is, though. On days when I have more time and need a bit more, I use It Cosmetics Illuminating CC Cream).
I’ve been using this concealer for years. I dab a tiny bit under my eyes and on my chin and blend with a fake beauty blender (Real Techniques is a life and bank account saver).
This cream bronzer is SO dreamy. My sister has been using it for what seems like a decade now, and I’ve been borrowing it every time I see her for that long, too. I had been waiting for years to use up the rest of my powder bronzer and sprinted to Nordstrom to get this the following day.
I use my fake beauty blender to add a little sunkissed glow.
Another Glossier hero product. My eyebrows are pretty light, so it’s almost shocking how much better I look after a few swipes of Boy Brow.
This takes about 20 seconds to apply and is really well priced.
Ok, I know everyone has a mascara they swear by. And this is mine.
It’s pricey, and I promise that I really am on the hunt for a drugstore dupe that works just as well… but until I find said dupe, I’m standing by the Chanel Le Volume mascara.
I think what does it for me is the brush. The bristles are really hard and short, does that make sense? I can really manipulate my lashes with it and build as much volume as I see fit, depending on the day (and my mood, lol).
I can’t overstate the importance of this last step for me.
Not only does this spray set everything, but it gives me a dewy glow. And if there’s one thing I need in this life, it’s a dewy glow.
It’s a pre-weekend pick me up: just a little note with links to the latest blog posts, what I’m reading lately, and products I’m obsessed with. Think of it as a friend dropping off a surprise latte in the morning--you know?
