I feel like being an outfit repeater is kind of en vogue as of late?
At least that’s what I’m telling myself. I have always been the type of person to wear things absolutely into the ground, so it’s exciting (and convenient!) to watch the tides shift away from fast fashion and towards a more sustainable “fewer, better” approach. WE LOVE A CAPSULE WARDROBE.
I have been wearing these eight items on repeat this summer. And while this isn’t meant to be a San Diego flex post, I will definitely wear most of these items deep into the fall. I think most of these will pair well with light wash denim and cozy sweaters, too.

ToggleHere are the eight things I’ve been wearing all summer:
I can’t think of a trend more thrilling than this “coastal grandmother” moment we are having. And what better way to embrace my inner New England gardener than with these easy, breezy linen shorts from Reformation. The smocked waist is so flattering, and the “oat” color is the perfect summer neutral–goes with white, black, brown, and any muted color, really. I love these with a bodysuit or crop top, and they pair amazingly well with a white button down. Now, these are linen, after all, so expect them to wrinkle. It doesn’t really bother me, though; I feel like that’s what gives off the effortless, coastal vibe, you know? My sister has these in the brown and they are also adorable. These run pretty much true to size.
I’m just going to be honest here: I wear this cami from Free People no less than three times per week (and I only have it in one color–the “sage beige”). There is no limit to what I won’t wear it with/to. With jean shorts and birks? Yes. With my linen shorts and strappy sandals? Yes. With sweatshorts around with house? Also yes. With jeans and platform Converse? YES PLEASE. It’s comfortable, flattering, and comes in a million cute colors.
Does a more perfect clothing item exist? I have worn this Free People skort to every concert we’ve gone to this summer and have to actively stop myself from wearing it every date night too. The “wrap” detail is so fun, and I just love the sense of security that comes with a skort, LOL. I have it in black which goes perfectly with my black Jeffrey Campbell cowgirl boots that you all helped me pick out this spring. The denim blue color is so cute too–this is a more casual look that could be worn on the day-to-day more so than the balck color. Will have to circle back next summer. I sized up in this.
Keeping with the theme, here is another linen moment with this white button down from Zara. I love this open over a cami (you can guess the one) or buttoned and front-tucked into shorts or jeans. This would even be SO cute open as a swim coverup.
I wore this button down recently for a photoshoot (going to use the pics for a big web redesign I’m working on!!), and my photographer (Hannah Sessions, an angel among us) had me pull the shirt down on one shoulder to use as a kind of “posing prop” which I REALLY appreciated–I don’t know, maybe 1-3 people will like that tip, lol.
Now this is a 90’s moment I can fully get behind. These pull-on “mom shorts” from Madewell are so comfy and versatile. I’ll throw them over a swimsuit, bodysuit, or tucked-in tank or tee. I wear these babies way up high near my rib cage and feel great about it. Per the reviews, I sized one size up from my normal Madewell size and they are perfect.
I lied in my newsletter last week when I said that this was the last I’ll speak of the Abercrombie henley bodysuit. I’M SORRY. But when I started putting this roundup together, it just felt wrong to exclude it. So really quick: this bodysuit is flattering, supportive, and comfortable (can you ask for more?). Between my sisters and I, I think we own six. And because a few people asked: I don’t wear a bra with it but my sister wears just a tan one that you can’t really see through the hook part. True to size.
I have tried on approximately 30 pairs of Agolde denim shorts and pants, and these Dee shorts in the “chimes” wash are the only ones that I have kept. Though Agolde has a major cult-following, I find that the leg opening is almost always way too narrow for me…BUT, these shorts are awesome. They have a 12” rise and a 4” inseam in this particular wash (many of the washes come with different measurements?!). These shorts are soft but structured and have been my constant companion since I bought them last year–a splurge that has turned out to be very worth it. I feel like they’ve actually gotten better over time, too. I sized up in these to provide a baggier, more casual fit.
I think I linked this Free People sweater tank on a similar blog post from last summer, but I guess that just shows what a great find it was. I love this tank over a swimsuit or a bralette, with short or jeans. The knit material is very lightweight and, I think, provides a little texture to what would otherwise be a plain outfit. I have it in tan and white (the white is quite see-thru, fyi). It’s very low-cut, so you’ll want to make sure to pair it with a bralette that can see the light of day. This tank runs really big and ALWAYS sells out, so grab it if you see it in a color you like!
It’s a pre-weekend pick me up: just a little note with links to the latest blog posts, what I’m reading lately, and products I’m obsessed with. Think of it as a friend dropping off a surprise latte in the morning--you know?
